Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I worked on both real and mock projects. Each day I would work on my given task and have regular calls with the engineer in charge of the project in order to monitor progress and ask questions.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I think I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility, especially towards the end of my placement.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes I have learnt multiple new skills in terms of using software. I have learnt how to use completely new programs and have developed my knowledge and understanding of ones I have used before.
Additionally, I have learnt about bridge design and how these may be constructed. This is something I had little knowledge about prior to starting my placement.

I received a great amount of support and guidance as all tasks were explained clearly and help was always given whenever I had questions or didn't understand something fully.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Think the generally atmosphere of the company was really good as everyone in the team was very welcoming and helpful. Great office environment.

What advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis

To look into the company and learn about what they do and their values etc. I would go into the office as much as you can as it's great to talk to other people in your team face to face and also other interns.
