Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a Cloud Engineer, I've been a key member of a team responsible for migrating a global payment solution from on-premises to Azure Solutions. My role has involved designing and building multiple environments for different use cases using Terraform. I also designed the disaster recovery (DR) solution for our microservices application, ensuring that the application is highly available and fault-tolerant.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility as I have become the IaC SME on the project we are working on.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have become a certified Azure Administrator and am near completing my solution Architect Expert qualification. I have become proficient in Terraform also attaining the certification for it.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my placement!, it was a great opportunity for me exposing me to the world of cloud computing and also giving me the chance to really get stuck into it.
