Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked as a software engineer and contributed to the team's objectives and missions by implementing required features, enhancing existing features, fixing bugs, and collaborating with the wider team. There is a 20 minutes stand up meeting daily where we need to update the tasks we're working on for the day and it serves as an opportunity for us to seek support if we have any blockers with our existing task.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
You are treated like a full time software engineer throughout your placement and are expected to take on responsibilities to complete tasks independently. Everyone is very supportive so if you're stuck, you are free to reach out to your team member or tech leads for help. That's how you learn and improve.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Javascript is the main tech stack here so you will definitely master this programming language at the end of your placement. Some libraries and tools they use are React, Enzyme, Selenium and Nodejs. My technical skills improved tremendously, especially on React, and I learnt how to write more scalable and maintainable codes. I've also developed soft skills in presentation, communication and interpersonal.
