Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working on software solutions to meet ticketed requirements, attending, participating and running ceremonies, reviewing others' work and communicating with many various stakeholders from all across the buisness
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I feel I have been treated the same as all other engineers, I have sometimes assisted others in areas they are less familiar with and genuinely I feel an equal to the full time staff. I have been responsible for making work happen and I have gotten a lot of work done in this year.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The company provides a "buddy" during induction and throughout the placement there is huge amounts of technical support. There is also ample support for employee wellbeing, with a dedicated member of staff who will check in with you to ensure you are okay.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company has a relaxed atmosphere, with large open offices and a huge number of events run in work time to socialise, relax and have fun. The "tech and product" team have been welcoming and I feel comfortable. The company is well known across kent and it is hard to go to local tech professional events in kent without bumping into former employees. Not heard a bad word against the firm either.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement here. I've grown up and I've received huge amounts of feedback and advice. I've learnt loads, had time and opportunities to grow and I can confidently say I would be a far less happy and utterly less well rounded person if I had just done my final year and graduated. I am so much more prepared for my final year also.

What advice would you give to others applying to Holiday Extras
I would advise you to do your research. Find out what the company does, and whilst this is maybe more general advice, see an interview as a two-way street. It's not that you are begging for any work - just as much as they are looking to see which applicants will be best for them, you need to be looking for which placement is best for you. Relax, be honest, be yourself, take up space in their minds. You want the interviewing process to and and you are the person that they are still thinking about. If you talk about what you know and you know what you are talking about, you will go far.
