Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Daily stand ups to catch up with the team. Assigned tickets to work on and create solutions to problems/features and reviewing others work.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
You able to contribute as much as everyone else, and within the first 2 weeks of working there you will have pushed a small change to production. After time as you become more comfortable you will be able to make larger changes and help contribute more.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, Holiday Extras uses primarily Node JS alongside many other tools such as Git, Bigquery,
Grafana, SQL databases and much more which with daily exposure you develop skills in. Alongside non-technical skills like the ceremonies (stand ups, retrospectives etc.)

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The support and guidance was very good especially from my team. I was assigned a 'buddy' at the start who helped me get on my feet, and slowly became more independent. I was constantly reaffirmed throughout the year to reach out for help if needed and never felt uncomfortable to ask the team questions. There is also an assigned Engineer manager for any business or life concerns .

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company has a good culture and atmosphere, they have an entire week dedicated to bringing remote/non UK workers to the main office, and sometimes have events such as BBQs. The majority of people are relaxed and welcoming.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed it, I felt like I learnt alot and at the same time was able to contribute to my team. I feel alot more confident going into my final year at uni, and also more confident at life in general

Research the company and ask questions in the interview, this is your chance to see if it is a right fit for you,
The office is fairly isolated in Hythe, not in a city or town. It is pretty limited with things to do outside of the office so make sure you are okay with that.
