Trainee Merchandiser Review

The week follows a similar structure: Mondays we have a department wide trade call where each section will present their previous week's sales and identify styles that may require further action to ensure they hit their sales targets. Alongside this, we will forecast sales and ensure there are no issues with stock. Your time will be split between analyzing the sales of the current season and planning for the next.

Throughout the year my team have given me more and more responsibilities whilst always being there if I needed extra support.
I have taken on a few styles that I have to forecast the styles of and do all of the trade actions for my team.

From a role specific point of view, I have learnt so many skills! My Excel knowledge has expanded massively and I have been greatly supported in being trained to use the technologies needed.
From a personal perspective, I have also been encouraged so much by my team and this has built my confidence massively. For example, my presentation skills, my time management skills and resilience have all been . I will take these skills through with me when I return to University.

Each placement student is assigned a 'buddy' and a line manager who are directly responsible for your training and development. On my team, I had regular catch ups and worked directly with them each day. The support also extends to the wider teams too as everyone at Primark has been so encouraging and understanding.

I have loved working in Primark! The office environment is fast paced whilst remaining encouraging and nurturing. Even though we are a placement cohort, our opinions are still considered and we are fully immersed into the business.

I have had the best year and I will cherish this year for the whole of my life!
