Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
PR:
- Monitoring coverage
- Uploading press releases
Events:
-Assisting the team in the planning of events and providing on-site support e.g., Honda Dealer Conference, Southampton Boat Show, attending awards events
England Rugby Sponsorship:
- Assisting on the Honda stand at Twickenham on match days
- Supporting with the Honda Rugby Club initiative and Honda Rugby Test Drive Campaign
Supporting the internal communications manager with internal events and communications to Honda UK.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given full responsibility during my placement. My colleagues were interested to hear any ideas I had and encouraged me to take initiative in my role. Meanwhile, the team was always on hand to offer any support.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
As there was no undergraduate before me, I did not have a handover period. Despite this, when I started, I had 1-1 sessions with all team members to learn their roles and responsibilities. Throughout my placement I received a considerable and consistent amount of support from all colleagues and felt comfortable approaching them with any queries.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Honda UK has a very welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The Honda value of 'respect for the individual' was definitely present as I felt my ideas were heard and taken on board.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Honda UK. My job offered a wide variety of different opportunities across the business including Automobile, Power Products, Internal Communications and Sponsorship. This enabled me to interact with associates in all departments. The Communications Department which I worked within were really welcoming and friendly and supported me throughout my placement.
