Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Assisted lawyers with drafting letters, legal research, and writing articles for business development. Was sat in the Construction department in Week 1 and then in the Corporate Finance department in Week 2. Attended multiple practice area presentations, one pro bono workshop and one sustainability workshop. Also attended the Legal Walk and multiple social events. Was asked to conduct a group presentation on a news story from Taylor Wessing’s website in the final week.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Speaking to various trainees, associates and partners I found out more details about the legal career progression. I found out more about the expectations and responsibilities of trainees whilst fully immersing myself into the life of a trainee solicitor at the firm. The experience confirmed my desire to become a lawyer.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Improved my public speaking in the group presentation and my teamwork skills whilst working on various tasks within the teams I was assigned to during my internship. Improved my organisation skills whilst juggling with various responsibilities throughout the day. Obtained a great insight into the life of a Taylor Wessing lawyer whilst speaking to various associates and partners at coffee catch-ups.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. People were willing to schedule coffee catch-ups with everyone on the vacation scheme that had the initiative to reach out to them in order to find out more about the legal profession and their personal journey. They have an open door policy which made me feel supported at all times. There is no such thing as a silly question and they encourage participants to be curious and ask questions.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The experience was extremely positive. Everyone I met was friendly and eager to involve me in their work. Regarding the structure of the vacation scheme, the two weeks were well-organised thanks to an amazing graduate recruitment team.

If you have a curious mind and you are eager to learn, then Taylor Wessing is definitely the right firm for you. During the vacation scheme it is equally important to showcase those competencies.
