Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
my role involves actively participating in engineering projects and supporting the engineering team in various tasks. On a day-to-day basis, I work closely with experienced engineers and technicians to assist in the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions. I contribute to equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. I actively participate in project meetings, conduct data analysis, and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. Additionally, I collaborate with cross-functional teams, adhere to safety protocols, and document engineering processes and findings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given meaningful responsibilities within the engineering team. While working under the guidance of experienced professionals, I had the opportunity to take ownership of specific tasks and projects. I actively contributed to equipment maintenance, repair, and optimization activities, and my suggestions and ideas were valued. I was also responsible for conducting data analysis, providing insights to improve engineering processes, and actively participating in project discussions. Although I had the support and guidance of the team, I was given autonomy in completing assigned tasks, which allowed me to develop my skills and take on increased responsibility.

I have gained hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and optimization. I have learned to operate and troubleshoot various machinery and systems, enhancing my technical expertise. I have also improved my communication and teamwork skills by collaborating with diverse stakeholders and working on multidisciplinary projects. Overall, my experience at Premier Foods has allowed me to strengthen my engineering knowledge and apply it in real-world scenarios.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The engineering staff offered direction and help consistently. I was given a mentor who gave me insightful advice, responded to my inquiries, and critiqued my work. Colleagues were always personable and eager to share their knowledge and experience, and the team promoted collaboration. There were frequent check-ins, meetings, and training sessions to make sure I had the tools and direction I needed to do my job successfully. By granting customers access to pertinent training courses and other resources, the organisation additionally promoted professional growth.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I absolutely enjoyed my placement/internship with Premier Foods as a student engineer. It was extremely fulfilling to have the chance to work on technical projects and make a difference in the business' operations. I was able to learn from seasoned professionals and hone my talents because to the encouraging and collaborative work atmosphere. I valued the work difficulty since it gave me chances to use my engineering knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Because the company dedication to quality, sustainability, and safety aligned with my ideals, my experience was even more satisfying.
