Lochmaben Medical Group is seeking a friendly, approachable, and highly organised apprentice to join our supportive team, serving patients across the Lockerbie area.
As the first point of contact for patients, you will provide a professional, welcoming, and efficient service both at the reception desk and through telephone and email communication. You will play an important role in ensuring patients receive the support they need while helping the practice run smoothly and effectively.
The role will involve managing appointments, signposting patients to the appropriate services, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of a busy medical practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is looking to build a long-term career in healthcare administration.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and patient enquiries.
- Develop expertise in the clinical systems used to manage patient records, appointments, prescriptions, medical histories, and clinical workflows.
- Support the accurate recording and maintenance of patient information.
- Process and manage inbound clinical correspondence.
- Assist with prescription requests and referrals where appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues using Microsoft Teams and other digital communication tools.
- Support workflow management and general administrative duties across the practice.
- Ensure confidential patient information is handled in line with data protection requirements.
- Contribute to delivering a positive patient experience at every interaction.

Working hours:
- 30 hours per week
