About the role:

As an IT Service Desk Apprentice, you will join a small, friendly team of IT professionals and become part of our customer-facing service desk — the first point of contact for IT support across the business. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. One day you may be responding to service desk tickets and calls, and the next you could be visiting another Comfy Group site to help resolve an IT issue in person. The role is primarily based at our Stakehill site in Middleton. You will receive structured on-the-job training alongside completing an IT apprenticeship, giving you the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a career in IT.

  • Assist with IT administration tasks such as ordering equipment and managing spares
  • Demonstrate a positive, “can-do” attitude when supporting users
  • Carry out other appropriate duties under supervision, as directed by the Head of IT
  • Commit to completing the full apprenticeship programme and actively participate in all training sessions
  • Driving to multiple sites is required

Desirable skills:

  • A team player who can also work independently when required

  • Calm, friendly and professional when supporting users
  • Logical and analytical, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Clear and confident in their communication
  • Well-organised, with good attention to detail
  • Keen to learn, develop new skills, and build a long-term career in IT
  • A driving licence is desirable but not essential

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
  • You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
  • If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications. For more information please visit the UK ENIC website.

Working hours:

37.5 hours per week

Benefits:

  • EAP
  • Free parking at each site
