Description
An Aerospace fitting apprentice will join our manufacturing team to support the manufacture of composite radomes for a range of fast jet and helicopter platforms. This team member will be involved with a range of operations to allow a key aerodynamic surface to fit the airframe, including fitting of metallic hardware and fixing points. This role will offer the candidate an opportunity to get hands on with composite radomes, and gain the knowledge required to be an experienced aerospace fitter.
Key Responsibilities
- Health and safety of self and others at all times.
- Surface preparation of composite radomes.
- Measuring and marking out requirements to meet manufacturing drawing and internal documentation requirements.
- Fitting of metallic components to composite radomes through a range of methods such as bonding, riveting and fastening.
- Completion of manufacturing paperwork to document activities as part of key audit paperwork trail.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities to enable time and cost savings in the production method, as well as improve product quality.

Working Arrangements
Work Pattern
Your contracted hours each week throughout your apprenticeship will be 37 hours Monday - Friday.
Location
This role is based at Parker Meggitt’s Stevenage site. It is recommended that you live within a commutable distance of this location.

Apprentice salaries increase annually with experience and are reviewed each September, depending on individual performance. Apprentices are also included in Parker Meggitt's bonus scheme, receiving a minimum of 2.5%, which may increase depending on overall company performance.
Training provided
Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider, Weston College. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively. The training will be delivered in a block release method and overnight stay will be required.

Upon successful completion of the programme — and subject to performance — you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.
Qualifications & Experience Required
5 x GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.

- Be at least 18 years old when the apprenticeship begins.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.
- Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start.
