Description

The purpose of the role is to train a future manufacturing technician within the Polymer Seals and UK Composites Division.

Day to day the applicant will work primarily on the shop floor in production areas where polymer seals for the aerospace industry are produced. Seals are built by hand using rubber, fabric, composites and metallic materials which are moulded under high temperature and pressure to produce the finished item.

Applicants will be expected to learn the skills required to build seals and also to problem solve and improve production methods.

Some desk-based work will be required using computers. For instance, to keep records and access instructions and other information.

There will be a requirement to attend and provide input at team meetings and problem-solving sessions.

Working Arrangements

Work Pattern

Your contracted hours each week throughout your apprenticeship will be 37 hours Monday - Thursday 7.30am-4.15pm Friday 7.30am - 12pm

Location

This role is based at Parker Meggitt’s Loughborough/Shepshed site. It is recommended that you live within a commutable distance of this location.

Apprentice salaries increase annually with experience and are reviewed each September, depending on individual performance. Apprentices are also included in Parker Meggitt's bonus scheme, receiving a minimum of 2.5%, which may increase depending on overall company performance.

Training provided

Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.

Future Prospects

What does the future look like?

Upon successful completion of the programme — and subject to performance — you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.

In order to apply, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age when the apprenticeship begins. Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.
  • Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start.
