Role description:

Our Apprenticeship programme offers you an exciting opportunity to jump straight into the professional world and earn a living whilst also studying for professional qualifications. As an Apprentice you will play an active part in driving your career development and will be exposed to a variety of projects across the business.

Technical experience is key in our sector, which is why you’ll be supported by your line manager to develop the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours needed to meet your apprenticeship and, to work towards accreditation or chartership where applicable. You’ll be part of a supportive Early Careers community and will work alongside skilled professionals. You’ll benefit from structured on-the-job training, mentoring, plus funding and support for accreditations relevant to your programme, as well as the assistance you need to develop and succeed.

Role accountabilities:

Our Acoustics team considers and assesses the impacts of noise and vibration on human receptors. We are involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are both diverse and technically demanding including the buildout and redesign of High Speed 2, the Great Grid Upgrade for National Grid, Sizewell C Construction and many other smaller developments across the world. We provide technical advice and assessment of noise and vibration impacts on and from developments using field measurement techniques and detailed 3 dimensional modelling of noise.

As an Acoustic Technician, you will assist the team in the delivery of project related tasks to meet budget, timeframe and quality targets, and will be able to learn new technical skills focusing on the modelling, measurement and consideration of noise and vibration in both internal building environments and the wider environment. Acoustics is a very mathematical/physics based discipline using complex 3-dimensional prediction and calculation protocols.

On this apprenticeship you will complete the Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship standard on a day release basis through our agreed training provider Coventry University.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have gained a minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications, grade 4-9 Including Maths and English. And 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications at BBC minimum

  • 18 (Level 6) years old and have left full time education when the apprenticeship starts
  • You will demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player
  • You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
