Role description:

Our Apprenticeship programme offers you an exciting opportunity to jump straight into the professional world and earn a living whilst also studying for professional qualifications. As an Apprentice you will play an active part in driving your career development and will be exposed to a variety of projects across the business.

Technical experience is key in our sector, which is why you’ll be supported by your line manager to develop the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours needed to meet your apprenticeship and, to work towards accreditation or chartership where applicable. You’ll be part of a supportive Early Careers community and will work alongside skilled professionals. You’ll benefit from structured on-the-job training, mentoring, plus funding and support for accreditations relevant to your programme, as well as the assistance you need to develop and succeed.

Role accountabilities:

Our civil engineering community works across a range of sectors including highways, rail, energy and water management. This role is based in the water management team. A water management engineer works on a wide variety of waste and clean water infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets to deliver sustainable solutions. Ensuring resilience and quality of water supplies to our communities through innovative technologically advanced and natural solutions alike.

No matter the sector, our programme is an opportunity for you to grow your skills and ability in the delivery of sustainable solutions. The work will potentially involve some site work visits and inspections.

On this apprenticeship you will complete the BEng Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship standard on a day release basis through our agreed training providers London South Bank University.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have gained a minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications, grade 4-9 Including Maths and English.
  • 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications at BBC minimum, must include Mathematics and either Chemistry or Physics. Or BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area or BTEC Level 3 National Diploma D*D* in an Engineering subject area
  • Be a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years prior to starting the course and have the right to work in the UK
  • 18 (Level 6) years old and have left full time education when the apprenticeship starts
  • You will demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player
  • You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel and stay away from home when required (where possible we embrace virtual working)
