Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The focus of the vacation scheme was to give us an insight into how the firm operates and the kind of tasks that a trainee solicitor would be given on a day to day basis. We were each given a trainee buddy and our work was based on tasks set by them, which they later gave feedback on.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

On one of the days we were given talks by all of the different departments within the firm and we were given the chance to ask any questions that we may have had to the speakers. It was really nice to get an insight into different areas of law that I did not previously know much about.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed several of my skills whilst on this vacation scheme, such as my communication skills, in particular communication in a professional setting and the correct tone to adopt when drafting legal documents. Perhaps the most significant skill that I have developed is time management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was really friendly and welcoming. In particular, the social with the current trainees gave us a chance to gain a greater insight into the culture of the firm, and all of the trainees were so down to earth and helpful.
