Vacation Scheme Student Review

I attended a week long vacation scheme in the Manchester office. I worked on active matters set by Partners and Associates such as research tasks, writing letters, attending calls and creating case summaries.
I interreacted regularly with lawyers, IT staff, secretary's and clients.

It has been very valuable gaining insight into the structure of the business, the roles of the teams (Partners, associates, Trainees/paralegals and Admin staff).
On the first day there were lots of talks to engage with from the CEO, current trainees and the departments about the business, IT training, department talks and being a responsible business.

I have furthered my communication skills, active listening, team work, written/oral skills and analysis.
I have developed my growth mindset and ability to engage my initiative when working on tasks that were unfamiliar.

Gateley is a very welcoming firm. There is no hierarchy and you are able to speak to the partners and ask the team any questions you may have.
The trainee's are very helpful and have supported me through my vacation scheme.

I have really enjoyed my vacation scheme. I have engaged with a variety of work and I have particularly enjoyed working on active matters. I have gained valuable insight into the role and daily expectations of a trainee solicitor.
I have been exposed to an area of law that has expanded my knowledge of the corporate sector. It has been a great experience which has given me insight into the potential areas of law I would like to explore during my training contract.
