What have you enjoyed the most about your experience at Mott MacDonald so far?
The incredible variety of project's I've had the chance to work on. The diversity from small, local initiatives that allow for a hands-on approach, to large-scale national projects that challenge my strategic thinking skills. The balance keeps my work dynamic and allows me to learn from different perspectives and project scales. The variety keeps me engaged and continuously growing.
How have you found the ‘accelerating your future’ development programme?
The development programme has been extremely valuable in establishing a network within Mott MacDonald. It allows you to meet people from a range of roles and office locations who you would otherwise not meet and build a connection with them. It enhances your soft skills to equip you with skills you need for a successful career.
What attracted you to the role at Mott MacDonald?
I was drawn to my graduate role in carbon at Mott MacDonald because it offered the chance to be part of a company actively driving the transition to net zero. With its focus on meaningful decarbonisation across infrastructure and its people-first culture, I saw a unique opportunity to apply my passion for sustainability in a real-world context. To me, the role was not just about technical development, but the ability to make a measurable impact.
What are your career goals for the next few years?
In the next few years, I see myself continuing to build knowledge and skills around my discipline of carbon. I’m interested in how we translate data into action; how insights from whole life carbon assessments can directly influence the way infrastructure is designed. Ultimately, I’d like to be part of the bridge between technical analysis and high-level decision-making, helping organisations embed carbon thinking at a strategic level.
What one piece of advice would you give to anyone looking to apply for the Graduate role at Mott MacDonald?
If you're applying for a graduate role at Mott MacDonald, lean into curiosity rather than perfection. Instead of showcasing everything you know, highlight your eagerness to learn, how you've tackled unfamiliar problems before, and your ability to think across fields.
