Internal Communications Placement
At Mott MacDonald
Placement (10 Months+)
What is your current field of study and why did you choose it?
My current field of study is an MSc Creative Advertising and Strategy a degree which encompasses marketing and advertising. I chose to pursue this masters degree as I had some experience in some brief experience in marketing but wanted to gain and solidify more knowledge academically. The course also offered the opportunity to a placement at masters level, a massive selling point for me as I was unable to do a placement year in my undergraduate because of Covid.
Where are you currently doing your placement and what is your role?
I'm currently doing my placement within the EUNA Internal Communications department at Mott MacDonald
What are your main responsibilities and tasks in this role?
As an Internal Communications Executive at Mott MacDonald, I manage and publish content for the internal intranet and newsletters. I engage with different stakeholders to help deliver key communications be it through guidance, campaigns or the company social channels. I also aid in planning various webinars, edit and video some internal videos as well as design internal PowerPoints.
What have you enjoyed the most about your placement experience?
I have enjoyed being able to get involved in the events of the wider business, such as the Early Career Professional network, the social events available and some of the presentation evenings about current projects being done throughout the business.
What advice would you give to future placement students?
My key advice is to through yourself fully into the experience and keep asking questions. Ask why ? Ask for more work if you haven't been given any, its a sure way to learn and embed yourself within your team from an early stage.
