Communications Industrial Placement Review

The placement was split between two teams. In internal communications, this could be from writing articles, creating videos and organising internal events/campaigns.
In external communications this involved assisting on crisis, proactive and regional comms. In addition, I was also involved in the consumer team which covers a range of tasks including press releases, broadcast opportunities and PR events.

Yes! From the start of my placement I was given lots of responsibility. From leading campaigns and projects to being responsible for broadcast opportunities and influencer gifting.
Aldi definitely have a lot of confidence in their placement students, only by receiving this much responsibility if has allowed me to develop both personally and professionally.

Throughout this placement, there are a wide variety of skills you develop. This includes your interpersonal skills, organisation and project management.

There was an in-depth training plan when I joined Aldi, this lasted around 6 to 8 weeks - there was constant catch ups throughout this period.
Throughout the rest of the year, I have regular catch ups with my manager, the support and guidance Aldi offer is beyond your professional career. They really prioritise developing you as a person so you gain the most from the year.

Overall, the culture at Aldi is really positive. Everyone has been very supportive and welcoming since I joined.

It has truly been an incredible year. I never expected to be given so much responsibility, and I’ve learnt more than I could’ve imagined.
I have met some very talented individuals along the way who will definitely remain friends as I head back to university. If I could turn back time I would do it all again!
