Product Management Intern Review

Reviewing product configurations, tracking sales, managing timelines and technical specifications for home entertainment and physical products. Reviewing bonus features, dubs, subtitle languages and making sure they are all correct for each market. There are a lot of ad hoc tasks as well such as assisting in the recruitment process, competitor analysis reviews which look at movies released by competitors and competing features. There is a lot of liaising with different markets through email and video chats and also some store visits.

I was fortunate enough to be given lots of responsibilities. The workload is effectively divided by everybody on the team, with no regard as to your position. I was doing the same type of work the supervisors and my manager was. I handled some processes totally independently and was trusted to do so. Decisions made by me were having actual impact on the business so there was a lot of responsibility but you feel well prepped for it.

Yes definitely, I have become a lot better at networking, working in an office environment, learning how to email professionally, managing time and multiple projects with different deadlines, being able to prioritise them all. There are opportunities to get involved with events and groups outside of your day job which really helped my interpersonal and project management skills. You have a lot of opportunities to try new things. I have gotten to present a lot and improved on that too.

The handover was not long enough and I did not feel prepared whatsoever to begin the internship but everybody is very helpful and supporting with any questions or doubts you might have. There was a lot of guidance in showing you how things are done if you are unsure, and there are plenty of training notes and guides in the shared drive you can browse through. There is a handover booklet as well which is very long and covers a lot.

Everybody is lovely, a lot of jolly people, there are always PLENTY of events going on to take part in and destress during the day. There are screenings in the cinema located within the office so if you are working within studios it is very rewarding to see your work come to life. Senior leadership teams are very friendly and people super high up will be friendly enough to talk to you. Networking events are scheduled regularly and social events too. Team events were less frequent for me but I know a lot of teams had them more often so it really depends

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only part that was not my favourite was when the days in office were taken up to 4 as I live very far away and the journeys have become super tiring and exhausting, wasting 12 hours a week so it is not great that there is no flexibility on this unless you have children essentially.
