Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role was that of a junior civil engineer. On a day to day basis my tasks included technical CAD work, report writing, design meetings, and site visits. I was able to work on a wide range of projects which allowed me to gain experience and knowledge of a variety of disciplines within civil engineering.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility and independence in my tasks but there was always help and guidance available when I needed it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have massively developed my existing CAD skills throughout this year through day to day tasks as well as more formal training. I have also gained new skills in professional report writing and learnt how to use new software.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture is fantastic, they put a huge emphasis on encouraging a healthy work/life balance and good mental and physical health. The office is also very sociable and friendly.
