Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Ensuring databases are all up to date, reviewing the tax code of new Disney products, responding to queries regarding certain areas of tax we get from the business, working on larger projects alongside your seniors

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, a lot of responsibility will be passed down your way once you are able to prove in the first few months that you are capable of being trusted. There however was always support from my seniors whenever I needed it so you never feel alone/neglected.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Significantly increased my knowledge in tax and how important it is to a business. Improved my excel skills. Learnt how to prepare a tax comp. Improved my e-communication skills as you regularly are on your emails and have to make sure the email targets the question and is not confusing

A lot of support. Mental health representatives are in your team and my seniors would always be happy to take time out of their day to speak with me.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very friendly and inclusive environment. The team I worked in had the perfect balance of having a professional yet fairly colloquial environment which I found really great to work in.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have really enjoyed my placement in the tax department of the Walt Disney Company. I think the most important factor is that the people around me are all very nice, patient and thoughtful people which meant I would look forward to working with them. The work given can sometimes be challenging but is often very engaging and support is always there. I would highly recommend this placement
