Open Day Attendee Review

The Open Day was a valuable insight in the lives of trainees and partners alike at Winston Taylor. Speakers shared their experience of working at the firm, how they began their career in commercial law, and gave advice to prospective applicants on how to go about their own applications.
The day began with an overview of the company, including its recent merger, culture and sustainability efforts. Following this were talks by the Early Talent team and trainees on the recruitment process at Winston Taylor, how to build commercial awareness and their own personal insights into working at the firm. All the speakers were polite and down-to-earth, and I would highly recommend the open day to anyone who is considering a career at a transatlantic law firm!

How to enter the world of commercial law was explained thoroughly and clearly by the speakers. From the initial application to the available vacation schemes that lead to full training contracts, the process of practicing law as a solicitor at Winston Taylor was eye-opening for someone like myself who is interested in commercial law.
The Early Talent team, partners and trainees all illustrated the determination for client satisfaction and community involvement that Winston Taylor inspires in its employees. The talks allowed me to understand why the firm provides a full range of legal services to a variety of sectors, such as TMT, healthcare and life sciences, financial services and private wealth.

During the open day, we were encouraged to ask questions to the speakers, as well as network and meet new applicants, which boosted communication skills. We were also taught the importance of tailoring an application to a specific firm, which built upon skills such as researching, analysing and forming judgements supported by evidence.

The culture at Winston Taylor can only be described as friendly and driven. The speakers expressed their love for their work and the importance of collaboration. This leads to a healthy atmosphere that nurtures their employees' skills and pushes for excellent client satisfaction around and in the courtroom.

I found the open day beyond enjoyable! Socialising with like-minded peers and asking questions to knowledgeable professionals was as fun as it was insightful. I come out of the experience with a much clearer view on how to become a solicitor, and hopefully look to working with the people I have met today!
