As an Open Day attendee, I took part in a series of talks delivered by partners, trainees and associates. The sessions helped to demystify commercial awareness and provided practical advice on applying for vacation schemes. I also gained a clearer understanding of the firm and heard directly from people at different stages of their legal careers.

I found Winston Taylor’s Open Day extremely informative and comprehensive. It provided valuable guidance on applying for the firm’s vacation scheme, as well as practical advice that could be applied to applications elsewhere. The event also gave me a positive impression of the firm’s culture. The trainees we spoke to were enthusiastic about their experiences across different seats and appeared genuinely happy and well supported at the firm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Winston Taylor?
Following the Open Day, my main advice would be to research Winston Taylor in depth. Think carefully about how each of your experiences has helped you develop transferable skills, and explain how you would apply those skills in your day-to-day work as a trainee at the firm.
Be as specific and detailed as possible so that recruiters gain a clear and authentic picture of who you are. When discussing the firm, avoid making generic observations. Instead, relate what you have learned about Winston Taylor to your own career ambitions.
Finally, use the Open Day as a foundation for your application. Reflect on what you learned, identify the aspects of the firm that particularly resonated with you, and explain how these insights strengthened your desire to apply.
