Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
It was extremely helpful to attend the Open Day, where I learnt from the various webinars and panels about life at Winston Taylor
How would you rate the structure of the insight

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Attending the open day gave me a much clearer picture of Winston Taylor as a business, not just a name on a vacancy list. Hearing how the firm has come together since the merger made it easy to see the commercial logic: Taylor Wessing’s IP, technology and life sciences expertise sits alongside Winston & Strawn’s US litigation and private equity strength. The firm is positioned to serve innovation-driven clients on both sides of the Atlantic.
What stood out most was [e.g. speaking with a trainee in the patents team / the session on life sciences], which showed how a scientific background is put to direct use in the work. Learning about the training contract structure, with four seats including Corporate or Finance and a contentious seat, helped me understand the range of roles available and how I could develop. I left feeling more certain that this is where I’d like to build my career

Yes, the open day helped me develop several existing skills. Networking with trainees, associates and partners pushed me to ask focused questions and hold conversations with people at different levels of seniority, which built my confidence in a professional setting.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight. The highlight was the STEM trainee panel. Hearing from trainees who had come from science backgrounds, and how they made the move into law, was both reassuring and inspiring.
