Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

This general open day was very structured and informative. Sessions provided relevant information to applicants with sufficient breaks in between.

How would you rate the structure of the insight

5/5

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

The open day was tailored to vacation scheme applicants. We heard from trainees, associates, a Partner as well as from the Early Talent Team. This breadth of perspective meant that I felt able to pick up the firm’s own ‘vibe’ and determine whether it is a culture fit.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt about typical litigation and arbitration proceedings in more detail thanks to an associate panel discussion. I also picked up on the importance of truly personalising my application to make it stand out in this AI era of generic responses.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend Winston Taylor to a friend?

Yes

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Winston Taylor

Stand out my personalising your application. Don’t worry about doing a non-law degree or having non-legal work experience. The Early Talent Team repeatedly mentioned that showing critical thought and reflection is invaluable. Also, build up commercial awareness habits: a little bit often is better than a lot last-minute.
