Finance Internship Review

I spent time in Content Finance, across 4 different departments. I basically had to support the teams with day-to-day financial tasks, whilst also working closely with central finance. Alongside this, I was very fortunate to be given lots of free time to speak and network with many people at the BBC, in other areas. We also had lots of training too, with every Friday being designated purely for training. It really was the perfect internship.

Yes. I was given tasks that contributed to different business functions, and really made to feel part of the team. This was more the case in some departments than others, it sort of depended on how busy they were and how urgent the tasks were. But overall I got lots of opportunities to do this and had a great time doing so, with managers often setting tasks to complete across several weeks for me to then report back on after that.

I have developed my people skills, as it was my first job in an office. I have also got better at using Excel and other systems. I feel the best part of it was that I got to do real tasks and actually make a meaningful difference. I was also able to work on my communication skills, something I have struggled with in the past. Not only through presenting, but also but speaking more in meetings.

Fantastic. Everyone was so lovely and I had the best time getting to know them all. They were all so willing to give up time and help and we also had dedicated time each week to complete training. Even people not directly in my team gave up time for me and would spend an hour or two talking through their roles and what they do, which has actually given me a few ideas what I may want to do post Uni.

It was honestly fantastic - the best place I have ever worked. It was a joy to work each day, so much so that I chose not to work from home and instead go into the office each day. Even people I didn't know where always so kind and friendly in the corridor, and there was a general vibrance around the offices. I think this really came through in how close teams were with each other.

It was 10/10. I loved it and the 8 weeks absolutely flew by. I could not have asked for much more - I had a great time, learned so much and really feel like I have some ideas for future work that I would never have considered before. I felt the company really cared about us, and potentially saw us as future employees, so it all helped in creating a superb environment for learning and contribution.
