Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a part of my first rotation in backend I work on a b2b portal developed as a part of the Skyscanner, attend meetings and stand-ups and take part in training programs.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, currently I lead one of the projects being small-medium size.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I receive a lot of support both mentally and technically from my squad but also other people in the company. We have frequently(weekly) sessions with manager and mentors, I also have set up 121 meetings and pair programming sessions.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Culture of Skyscanner is one of the best aspects of working there, everyone is very open, there is a huge diversity of people from all the backgrounds and countries. We also have people coming from other offices sharing not only amazing personal stories but also insights about some of the markets or business parts.

I enjoy my work at Skyscanner all the time. I really appreciate the chance of learning new skills, working on meaningful tasks and meeting interesting and highly motivated people. This role exceeded my expectations.

What advice would you give to others applying to Skyscanner
Try to be yourself and share the most of your past experience and projects with team interviewing. Showing commitment outside university is appreciated. Keep in mind that software engineering is a team work where not only technical but also soft skills are crucial. On the daily basis you will work with multiple people from your but also other teams and having the communication skills, being open-minded and a good listener is essential.
