Greaduate Software Engineer Review

On a day-to-day basis I start my mornings with reviewing pull requests followed by a daily stand-up with my team. After this I begin writing some code. In my current rotation I work on Mobile development within Swift and UIKit.
I usually interact with my team on a daily basis encase I need support or have a new idea to help the project, this allows me to get other engineers point of views on my idea to see if firstly it is a good idea but also how I could go about the problem and possible solutions

From the get-go I was given the opportunity to go at my own pace and instead of it being a question of "what we want from you..." it was "How can we help you achieve your goals?" this wording for me enabled me to speak openly and honestly about what I want.
If I asked for more there was plenty more ready and waiting to allow to really choose how deep I wanted to go within the rotation. This allowed me to be stretched and really pushed to learn new and exciting things and learn to fail forward.
My manager has been an absolute driving force helping me to achieve my goals and ensuring I was getting enough support from my team and that I didn't feel like I was an imposter.

Before joining Skyscanner I had never touched any mobile development, so my first rotation being mobile was a bit of a daunting task. But on the grad program I have never felt so much support. This has helped my transition into mobile be as smooth as can be and has helped me learn and develop my skills in my own space.
As for team working skills, I have really had a chance to develop these skills even further than I would have potentially working elsewhere as within my squad, team working is one of the main components of making us successful as it allows us to share experiences and make each other’s lives easier when it comes to really challenging pieces of work

I have people at my fingertips, all of them able to support me and guide me through my placement. Within my squad there's emphasis on us as people not as just workers and with the squad socials and other events I'm able to build a sense of belonging and that I really matter to the organization.
This is also the case with leadership as I feel they care for everyone as individuals which I have not really experienced with any other organization so for me this really gave me a sense that I could go to anyone for support and that guidance is only a message away.

There's something special at Skyscanner, not just because I work there but something that has been there since my first interview. since my discovery day I wanted to work at Skyscanner the people there were extremely smart and really showed Skyscanner’s values, there's a buzz you feel in the office, even when you're interviewing you really feel a sense of belonging.
Now that I am part of the Skyscanner family, my opinions haven't changed I am even more hooked than I was when I first joined.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the placement so far, the package offered by Skyscanner really show their dedication to graduates and undergraduates, and really respects that graduates might not know what area they want to work in. The program Skyscanner offer is great for the type of people who really want to create an impact across a business and really want to touch as many pieces of the business as possible.
The projects you will work on will be complex and really make you get a feel for how the business connects.
