Finance Graduate Review

Currently I'm positioned within two teams, Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger. This is my first rotation, and these teams provide a good foundation of knowledge of the comings and goings of the company's financials. For each teams there is daily processing and chasing tasks, with everything aiming to meet month-end goals, which are put in place to reach year-end goals.

Only being 3 months into the role, my responsibility's are limited, however I am expected to enter and process bank statements, invoices, chase for outstanding amounts, contribute to team meetings giving management a better overview of how proceedings are going, any hold ups etc that will effect month end.
We are also undergoing a transfer from SAGE to Workday as a new finance tool. I have been asked to lead "Experience Labs", showcasing the new software to individuals, that will go out and help champion the transition within their teams.

A lot of soft skills have been developed, university can't prepare you enough for the amount of meetings, committees and presentations you will be part of in the professional world. Responsibility to take ideas and pursue them, has been developed.

The support networks within Skyscanner are endless, there is a real sense of accesabillity from new starts to the executive team. Everyone with my teams have been supportive and assisting me in learning my new role, and the structure in place for me to continue my learning going forward (getting chartered) are well identified even at this early point.

Unique! I've never worked somewhere that is so active in its inclusiveness and wanting to improve on these areas. There is a great social atmosphere within all of the offices and teams i've been a part of also.

I've enjoyed the experience so far, this was on the top of the list of businesses that I wanted to start my career in and its lived up to expectations. And with the development that is lay out ahead of me, I hope to be here for a long time to come.
