Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Moving clients from their existing asset management platforms onto Aladdin - BlackRock's flagship technology platform. This involves demonstrating the use of different Aladdin tools to clients, and supporting clients throughout the transformation between their legacy platforms and Aladdin.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Throughout my internship, I gained insight into the different practices within Aladdin Client Business and delivered mock demonstrations of Aladdin tools and functionality to members of the business, mirroring the types of presentations delivered to clients.

Yes - throughout the internship I hugely developed my presentation skills, as I had to deliver 5 presentations over the course of my 8 weeks to very senior colleagues in the business.

I received a huge amount of support and guidance throughout my internship, particularly from my manager who was extremely proactive in arranging regular feedback sessions and opportunities to catch-up/ask any questions.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture at BlackRock was incredibly inclusive and welcoming, particularly as an intern. There was a genuine open-door policy, with colleagues at all levels taking the time to have coffee chats, share their experiences and make me feel supported throughout my internship.

Be open to learning new things and stepping outside your comfort zone. Remain flexible about the team or practice you may be placed in, as each placement offers valuable opportunities to develop new skills and gain different experiences.
