Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I work in technology consulting, specifically as a business analyst. This means communicating with the client in order to understand the requirements of the desired solution and then translating this into actionable pieces of work (tickets) for our team to develop.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was. In my current project, my current role is as a Scrum Lead and BA, two roles in one. I handle both the writing of the tickets for the developer team based on client requirements and I manage one pod of developers during in-sprint activities. The responsibilities I was given exceeded my expectations.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a varying amount of support, depending on the project I was on. One project I struggled to start on because I felt as if I had been given a lot of information to work with without much explanation. On another project, I was taught in a well-structured and informative manner, which allowed me to onboard with ease.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was much better than I imagined; a more relaxed but still productive environment, that encouraged a positive relationship with colleagues and the work you would do.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I did enjoy it a lot as I experienced a lot more things than I expected to. I was exposed to many opportunities and people to network with, and I was given challenging work that helped develop my technical and soft skills to better prepare me for the future.
