Audit Placement Analyst Review

My role as a Deloitte Industrial Placement involved a wide breadth of tasks and learning opportunities. Generally, on your assigned team you would have a daily standup meeting in the morning to discuss what was completed yesterday and planned tasks for the day ahead, to help keep your days structured and the wider team aware of everyone's progress. Then a typical day would involve working through the discussed tasks, testing various areas, communicating with clients and examining contracts and agreements. You would receive an hour lunch break which it is common to take with your team or any other colleagues.

I was given plenty of responsibility during my placement - often managing entire testing areas independently and being responsible for updating progress, flagging issues and reaching out for assistance. That being said, in any team I was on, help was nearly always available and high quality, and you were never penalised for seeking assistance.

I have learnt a huge amount of new skills - from audit testing skills, resilience from busy seasons, time management from balancing exams with full time work and client communication skills. The amount of soft skills gained and honed during this placement was astounding and I feel much more prepared for full time work after university thanks to this placement.

There was always support and guidance available from your team, whichever team you are on. There is an array of support ranging from senior analysts, Assistant managers, all the way up to senior managers and directors being open to helping you. Every employee is also assigned a people leader, who is always a port of call if you need assistance with anything within the firm.

The company culture is very flat - meaning that as a placement analyst, I was in frequent and informal contact with directors, and even partners. They treat everyone as equals and it is a lovely culture to be a part of.

I really enjoyed my placement experience and found it genuinely transformative. I have made some amazing colleagues and friends and thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
