Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role as Video Intern was very flexible.
By being an editor you need to create projects and timelines for internal, social media, and website assets. Find licensed music and colour grade your project.
As a Video Producer your duties do vary every day. Some examples are researching photographers, contributing to our internal directory, sorting contracts, looking for national and international locations, preparing decks, call sheets for shoots, or even attending shoots.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
At the beginning of the placement you start with simple tasks that help you settle in. But when you feel confident enough, you can start asking for more exciting tasks which involve much more responsibility most of the time. I ended up working in campaigns for which my work made an impact in creative decisions, which was my goal for the placement.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
By being a Video Intern I've learnt loads of new skills. Being in a real work environment has been very helpful on a professional basis to know what is expected from me at work, but as well to know to manage my workload. The importance of mental health at work, of being passionate about what you do, and to work in a safe environment.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
It was very nice to receive constant support by my colleagues at work, and to grow professionally with it. I can see how my work has evolved, by looking much more professional.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very supporting and understanding. Gymshark it's a very nice place to work in if you're into Sport, and community culture.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
The part I enjoyed the most was it being very flexible. From the work I did, to where to do it from. And the internal community that Gymshark has, of extremely talented individuals that when they are together can make that rocket ship fly very high.

What advice would you give to others applying to Gymshark
If you're applying be true to yourself. Do you want to work at Gymshark? If so, be enthusiastic about it in your cover letter, and don't be afraid to fail. They really value people knowing what they do wrong, or what they may need more help with, but having willingness to learn is key. If you're doing an internship you're there to learn, but you will be treated as an employee.
