Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Providing support for all projects across the PR team - ad hoc influencer seeding (gifting lists, outreach, allocating product & ordering), campaign gifting strategy, packing PR packages, event support - planning & execution, sending press samples, writing press releases, monitoring social media coverage which included daily tracking & monthly reporting of stats, database management using excel, running an internal PR Instagram account. Tasks varied day to day so it was very dynamic, always busy & new projects all the time!
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Over time my responsibilities increased and supervision over tasks was minimised as I was trusted to complete work without micromanagement. I was treated as an equal on the team which was amazing, I could get so much experience instead of just doing admin etc. I was given my own projects to lead such as gifting campaigns and an event. I would present ideas to the team and delegate tasks to coworkers to prepare for projects.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Learnt lots about the PR industry and gained relevant experience & skills throughout my placement - my team were so helpful always asking if there was anything I wanted to work on more/learn more about. I definitely improved time management, creativity, working in teams, interpersonal communications, written communication and my confidence overall increased.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Everyone on my team helped to guide and support me throughout my placement and were all so helpful. I had a supervisor who I worked very closely with, who provided me with so much support and guidance throughout all projects. We also received lots of onboarding at the start. Interns were provided with development sessions, including round table Q&As.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout the company. The culture was noticably ‘family’ focused, it made the working environment so enjoyable. I think because it is such a young company there is a lot of like minded people, work hard play hard vibe.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better placement, it really reassured me that I’m entering a career path that I will enjoy.
I enjoyed the work I was doing and it was amazing to see the projects come to life. Working events was my favourite, I also got to travel to Berlin for an event which was more than ever expected going into this placement. Not to mention I made friends for life here.

What advice would you give to others applying to Gymshark
Be yourself and don’t hold back. I was incredibly nervous during interviews but everyone is so welcoming and lovely which helped me a lot. If you get the opportunity to do a Gymshark placement definitely don’t sleep on it!
