Compliance Intern Review

Assisting the compliance team in ensuring the company is adhering to its own internal controls and government regulations.
Daily duties include the assignment of balance sheet reconciliaitons and the submission of financial reporting surveys to the office of national statistics.

Yes. A number of main responsibilities were given to me over the course of the whole placement, with other smaller responsibilities scattered across the placement at certain times of the year or other times when it was necessary. Examples include:
- BS Reconciliation Assignments.
- SAP Security Administration.
- Purchase Ledger Invoicing and Raising Purchase Orders.
- Office for National Statistics Surveys.
- TV Channels Classifications.
- Statutory Accounts Drafts.
- Audit Information.
- Proof Reading Final Account Drafts (Spelling, Calculations, Punctuation etc.)

- Increased proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Excel.
- Communication skills: over the phone, in meetings and through emails.
- Problem solving skills: thinking on my feet to resolve issues.

Regular training modules, town hall meetings with rest of branch and the company as a whole, regular team meetings and meetings with my line manager, all helped me progress and keep on track of my goals.

Friendly atmosphere, highlighted by the events and extra cirricular activities the company offeres. Interns are allowed to take part in a charity fundraising scheme throughout the whole placement.
Larger meetings help you feel part of the bigger picture and that you're all heading towards one goal.

The placement with Disney has been fantastic. It was slightly hindered by the lockdown meaning we had to work remotely, resulting in fewer social opportunities than normal, but overall it was an enjoyable and educational experience.
I would certainly recomend anyone considering an internship or anyone who is a Disney fan to apply to this scheme.
