Summer Vacation Scheme Review

I was seated in the Corporate team, where I gained valuable insight into the work of a commercial law firm. On a day-to-day basis, drafted and reviewed documents, attended client calls, and completed a variety of practical tasks with guidance from trainees and associates. The scheme was well structured and gave me the opportunity to learn from and interact with lawyers across all levels of the firm.

The scheme gave me a really good understanding of the firm, its culture and the different practice areas. I had the chance to speak with trainees, associates and partners, which gave me a realistic insight into the work they do and the different career paths available. It confirmed my interest in corporate law and helped me better understand what a training contract at Gibson Dunn would be like.

I developed my drafting, communication and attention to detail throughout the scheme. I also became more confident working with different members of the team and taking on feedback

The culture was welcoming and supportive. Everyone I met was approachable and happy to answer questions, which made it easy to learn and feel part of the team from day one.

I really enjoyed the scheme and it exceeded my expectations. It was a great balance of meaningful work, learning opportunities and social activities, which made the week both enjoyable and engaging. I left with a much better understanding of the firm and would highly recommend the experience.
