Sales Account Executive Review

My role was supporting the sales of MX (mobile devices such as phones, tablets, headphones and watches) to a large retailer. The retailer changed 3 times during my placement (SES, Currys and Sky). I worked lots on excel with data interpretation, but still had some time speaking with buyers on the retailers side.

The responsibility changed from role to role however yes I was given a good level of responsibility - enough to feel like i was making a difference, but not too much to put an unhealthy amount of pressure on me

Excel - I have become very comfortable in data interpretation
Communication - I have learned how to communicate internally and externally in a professional manner in multiple channels
Business operations - I have learned how large MNCs work and operate, while learning how execution is done on a smaller in store level

My support level was very dependent on the personality and professional manner of my manager. I was lucky to have had good managers in some of my roles. They provided support and guidance to me in professional and personal ways - to help my personal development as well as the harder skills on excel etc.

I was in a unique atmosphere in my specific sector of the business. It is a very high pressure environment where things need to be done very quickly. Sometimes this atmosphere was quite stressful due to the wider business dynamics (not performing well in new launches etc) - there was lots of residual stress from others. However, my team generally helped and supported each other to try and maintain well being.

I have mostly enjoyed my placement - the skills I have learned are invaluable so I kept this in mind during any stressful or uncomfortable situations. I have been very lucky in my specific team placement to have been invited to many fun opportunities/activities such as frequent offsites, awards ceremonies or even team meals out - these experiences have been a highlight.
