Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Knight Frank?

I am really enjoying the grad scheme. Knight Frank has a great company culture. Everyone is willing to speak to you and help you if needed. The 6 month rotations are also a really good length - long enough to get stuck in with a role, but also nice to have 4/5 rotations, to try different departments and sectors within the company.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

I am currently in a Valuations Team. As the grad on the team, my roles include helping to prepare/write valuation reports, inspections, keeping our pack of comparable evidence up to date, coordinating our monthly/quarterly valuations and also learning and using the various relevant pieces of software used in the department.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
As a grad we get a lot of opportunity to be highly involved in the team, I am only a couple of months into my current team and already been given the responsibility to coordinate a quarterly valuation of a portfolio for one of our clients - of course with as much guidance as needed.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
Personally, I think the health and fitness benefits are the most valuable. With BUPA health insurance, private GP services and good discounts on gym memberships.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
My boss is always gently quizzing me on everything we do, and getting me to answer questions in a way that is beneficial for practice towards when I do my APC. This really helps consolidate my learning and connect the theory to an actual example.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
We are provided with bi-weekly grad training sessions, specifically for the grads in my department. These sessions are used to teach us the new softwares and skills, practice case study examples, and also ask other younger, recently qualified surveyors any questions in a more informal setting. The grad scheme in general also provides great resources and frequent check-ins/meetings to track our progress.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
I have received support in every aspect of the grad scheme. I have a 1-2-1 APC counsellor who i meet with every quarter to keep track of my progress towards and logging of my APC. I also have a graduate buddy - another grad in the company in the year above. Finally, in every seat we get a line manager. Everyone is very receptive to any questions or open to having a chat or catch-up. The Early Careers team are also very accommodating to any needs.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
Work-life balance is good and also well respected as a graduate. I will always put in work to make sure things get done, especially if we have a deadline, but my boss will also make sure that I leave the office at the end of the day, and makes sure I am not working past COB.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
The company has a great culture. Everyone is welcoming and eager to get you involved. For working from home, this tends to be based on your team and what their habits are like, but most teams have at least a day of the week where they tend to wfh. They are also flexible with remote working, for example if you have an appointment.

How would you rate Knight Frank initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
From my experience Knight Frank are inclusive in all aspects. We also get training on DE&I as a company standard.

How would you rate Knight Frank CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
Volunteering days and events are often shared to give the chance for an many people to contribute. These are often arranged at a department level

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Knight Frank to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The company provide so much support to the graduates. It is really nice to be in a cohort of graduates that all joined the company at the same time - there is a good social aspect, especially with the work sports and graduate events that are hosted. Finally, everyone in the company is welcoming and willing to speak to a graduate, no matter what stage of their career they're in.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5
There is a strong emphasis on the people at Knight Frank and I could really tell that during the recruitment process, and can confirm that this is still prevalent now working in the business.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Knight Frank?

I was quite fortunate as I got a space on the Knight Frank summer internship, and then got offered the grad scheme off the back of it.
