Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Creating Sys Engineering Artefacts that map the behaviour and functionality of features activated either remotely or on the vehicle touch screen.
This involved regular collaborative meetings with teams in other business areas and senior stakeholders.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, absolutely. By the end of my placement, I was project manager for two teams, co-ordinating project activity and reporting progress to senior people.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Absolutely Yes, I have been able to put into practice a number of topics learned in my degree, including UML, IT Networking, IP Protocols, Python, Agile Project Management and various widely used engineering software packages.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

My manager, early careers delegate and team colleagues were all superb and offered support whenever required. They got a great balance over trusting you to make and learn from mistakes while giving technical advice where appropriate.
My manager has also been superb at providing career guidance and advice on the specialist topics I should focus on.

Excellent. It is a positive and supportive environment where everyone wants each other to succeed and enjoy their roles.

The recruitment process was very engaging and supportive throughout and the best advice I can give is to be yourself. Do not try to act like someone else, they care about the real person you are.
