Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?

On average, positive. Friendly culture, opportunities to get involved and grow, however, the culture lacks a degree of ambition and challenge which may be better for graduates.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Data Analytics (Tableau/Visualization), Data Engineering (ETL pipelines, BigQuery etc.), Data Science (Training models, Gen AI).
I enjoy the Data Engineering/Software Engineering coding tasks the most.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
My manager and team give me lots of autonomy to contribute.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
I would say that the starting salary is above average for the midlands, however, the future career progression and salary after 1-2 years is poor/average at best.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

3/5
Good in some aspects, poor in others. Good in that I have gained a variety of experience in a rotational aspect across different skillsets in an enterprise setting. Poor in that the culture doesn't "harden" me or challenge me in ways that facilitate growth early in my career.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

3/5
There are good and bad periods. A lot of this is up to the individual as well.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
Very good.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
I don't think anyone has bad work-life balance here.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

3/5
Friendly, supportive, but slow and beaurocratic.

How would you rate JLR initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
Perhaps over the top.

How would you rate JLR CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

3/5
Honestly, I don't know.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I think no company is perfect, however, JLR treats its employees well.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Pretty well.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?

There is a lack of interest in testing technical ability throughout recruitment, so focus on soft skills/presentation skills first and foremost. As for onboarding, you need to just find where people are doing meaningful work and try to force your way onto those teams.
