Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?

Comprehensive, there is a great opportunity to learn about all aspects of the business within your department, generally people are helpful and friendly. It is also a demanding job in industrial operations. Work culture varies by department and team and there is little flexibility/help if you are unlucky enough to end up somewhere unsuited for you (whether this is personal or to do with the type of work).

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Industrial Ops - Design for manufacture in design phase. Tooling and measurement analysis specifically for my department when in production phase. Mainly my job is problem solving.
Logistics - project analysis and timing. Data analysis on internal supply chain process for efficiency based projects in the continuous learning space.
Prototype building tooling - Assembly and part design in CATIA.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?

No

Why?

Unless I'm aware of which area of the business my friend would be entering I would be hesitant to recommend the company. While most teams are positive and friendly, the job sites are fairly inaccessible unless one is driving or lives next to a company bus, this makes car breakdowns, flexibility for health reasons and highway incidents a real problem. Time tracking is not strict in most teams and there is a decent amount of hybrid working in headquarter based jobs. In areas where this is not the case quality of environment declines noticeably with long walks and innaccesible canteen options. Work life balance is hard to maintain even when a person is local to the company with their family as the same.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?

Willingness to work and problem solve were key to my onboarding and how fast I adjusted to my team and company. Where questions are welcome always ask as it's a great opportunity for learning - most people are open to questions.
