Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I have been working on the IIACO team within Commercial Excellence. I focused on two main projects over the 10 weeks: an AI analysis project involving testing VAIDA with the testing of the quality of account plans as well as building a sharepoint site for the CE team to contain all of their content on one website for KAMs and other Vertex employees.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I worked collaboratively with members from the team - but they gave me lots of responsibility with my internship projects

I developed skills in using SharePoint for the first time as well as more proficiency with AI tools and prompting

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Was very supportive during my internship and was always happy to organise calls with me to go through my work and answer any questions. Another manager was also very helpful with my AI analysis project.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It was a very welcoming environment - everyone was always happy to discuss their various roles and was willing to share their knowledge with me. It was a very positive culture to be a part of and a great overall first corporate experience.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed it. It was a great opportunity to explore the pharmaceutical industry as well as getting to work with colleagues from all different industries. I also liked the atmosphere with the other interns as that really helped to quickly settle into the company.
