Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at RSM?

RSM was my first ever job and my idea of office life was negative and warped due to what is seen in movies. However, working at RSM Hull has meant that I have met some of the most amazing people. I have seen behind the scenes of businesses that I didn't even know existed and I have gained a professional qualification that I can have by my name for life.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

One of my favourite elements of the job is coaching others. Whilst there is not much opportunity for this in the first year, due to being new, come your second year you beginning realising how far you have come just by explaining work to others.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
There are many different schemes in place to recognise good work, both set up nationally and locally. Your colleagues are extremely supportive and are always there to help you do your best.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
There are a various range of benefits that can be signed up to, such as healthcare and mortgage advice. With RSM being a national firm, there are also secondment opportunities to other offices (even overseas) and other departments.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
There is a very fast career progression in the first few years working at RSM, but you will never be pushed into a position that you are not prepared for. There are supportive people at all levels in the team that want to push you to develop,

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
There is monthly training that keeps you up to date with the best practices and keeps our quality up to scratch.

Experience & Company Culture

5/5
Everyone is very supportive and we have specific teams in place, both locally and centrally that are there to help you with any work or personal issues you might be facing.

How is your work-life balance?

4/5
In the first few years there is a lot to balance with your studies. However, RSM provides sufficient time off work to support you working towards your professional qaulifications.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
There is a great general atmosphere in the office, it is a place where you can make friends that you will see outside of the office. We make a point to try and do a range of activities as a team, to keep strong relationships with each other. Additionally, there is a good working balance between remote, on site at clients and in the office.

How would you rate RSM initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
RSM promotes diversity and inclusivity in the team. Should there be any events or things that you would wish to celebrate or highlight, RSM is more than happy to provide support.

5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSM to a friend?

Yes

Why?

RSM is a place that looks after its people and the people look after each other. The range of opportunities and type of culture at RSM means it has something to inspire all personalities.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
The recruitment process during the time of joining was during COVID, therefore it was not fully adapted to showcase the different type of work that each role would entail. However, the people throughout the recruitment process were very transparent and helpful.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to RSM?

Research the company! Come prepared with facts and interesting topics that you've found out about the business. Its not what you know that will help you, but the initiative to do the prep work that will make you stand out.
Also, be yourself. RSM are not looking for the perfect employee, they are looking for people that will add to the team and bring some personality to the office.
