Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involves supporting our international theatrical distribution business units, from helping sales teams booking cinemas for our releases, to assisting the billing team processing invoices. I need to know what each function does in order to support them, resolve their issues, or make their enhancement requirements happen. I use Microsoft tools such as Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint sites; as well as data analytical tools such as Google Big Query.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Absolutely! I was trusted to onboard cross-regional projects involving AI, implementing APIs for our box office estimates, and much more.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I started using Power Automate and I’m already known as a Power Automate wizard in my team. I also developed a lot of soft skills by running engagement sessions with stakeholders on a global scale.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was supported by a range of initiatives during my placement. From the onboarding sessions in the early days, to 24/7 mental health support. We also had access to LinkedIn learning at no extra cost to further enhance our technical skills. Our regular intern huddles often had guest speakers teaching us about personal finance and branding, as well as how to face challenges that we face early in our careers.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was truly exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and approachable and there were so many initiatives that I got to participate outside work to further build my confidence.

I truly enjoyed my experience at NBCUniversal. Not only the people were so nice, but also seeing what happens in the back-scene of all these great titles which change the world for good and make memories for people.
