Business Data Intern Review

As a Business Data Intern, I was working within a matrix organization, to bridge the gap between technology and various business functions, primarily Sales Distribution & Marketing. The role is a 50/50 split between supporting a best in class enterprise distribution application and helping to deliver data insights for our Marketing division.
On a day to day basis, this means working with different IT functions and supporting business engagement leads with business stakeholders to ensure business solutions are running smoothly and creating and maintaining Dashboards for our International business.

The skills I learnt were:
- How enterprise level business systems are managed and maintained
- How to gather requirements and engage with development teams in both traditional and agile life cycles
- Develop both business and data analysis skills and project management
- How to adapt your style and engage with different cultures and backgrounds
- Develop an understanding of the Theatrical distribution and marketing business

I felt incredibly supported throughout my placement. Any time I was unsure about something, I could go to my line manager or anyone in the team, and they were always happy to help. The team created an environment where asking questions felt completely normal.
I also received a lot of guidance when learning new tools like Power BI and SQL, people took the time to show me how things worked and made sure I understood. Everyone was patient, understanding, and genuinely invested in helping me grow.

The company culture was really warm and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere felt genuinely positive. People were friendly, approachable, and supportive, which made it easy to feel comfortable and part of the team. The vibes were good, collaborative, relaxed, and encouraging, and there was a strong sense that everyone enjoyed working together.
