Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As an Audience Insights & Analytics Intern, you will assist the content sales business of NBCU. Interns are a crucial part of the team and work on a wide variety of important projects, such as performance analysis of TV/Film content, generation of insights that feed directly into strategic business decisions, and support for the sales of major series and movies to broadcasters and digital platforms. This internship provides a great opportunity to learn about the media business and analytical techniques, as well as make a real difference to the success of the company.

I have learnt programming skills like SQL. I also developed my existing Excel skills and got familiar with other Microsoft Office app such as Power BI.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I have weekly catch-ups with my line manager and outside of those structured meeting, my line manager was always open to answer any questions. Other members of the team are also very accommodating to any queries you might have.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company ostensibly champions an atmosphere of inclusion and diversity. The company has amazing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) who do great work championing initiatives. However, given that this is an American company, the response of the company to political developments as felt that leadership does not really hold these values like its employees do.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have had a great placement filled with learning and growth opportunities. The Kids and Family team have been the most welcoming team and my line manager is the best manager a new starter in industry could have wished for. There is so much to learn and absorb - these 12 months have flown by!
