Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I work across FP&A and Controllership in the EMEA team at Universal Pictures International. This involved Financial Analysis and modelling on future and current titles to forecast profitability and risk, and assess where there is potential upside. I also create adhoc models and assist in Month, Quarter, and Year end processes including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset depreciation, reclasses and more.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I am now exposed to more and more month end processes and I have become the go to person for creating ad hoc financial models and reporting tasks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I now understand the entire month end controllership process from start to finish and feel comfortable completing all of the relevant components to close the books. Furthermore, my ability to build ad hoc models and analyses in excel has grown exponentially in my time here.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was generally really positive and a happy place to work. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, which makes NBCU a friendly place to work. The culture of the internship is about trying to help you grow as a professional which is exactly what you want from an internship/placement as a young professional.
