PR and Communications Intern Review

As part of the Hayu, International Networks & DTC PR team, I support the promotion of brands and content across EMEA and Hayu’s global footprint of 45 territories. My role involves sourcing and managing key publicity assets, compiling press kits, drafting press materials and developing publicity ideas. I assist with talent access by helping to organise interviews and press events, while also monitoring, archiving and reporting on PR coverage. In addition, I support internal communications initiatives such as newsletters, gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of publicity and communications within a fast‑paced, international media environment.

Yes, during this role I have both developed new skills and built on existing ones. I have become more confident in my communication skills, improved my ability to stay organised and manage competing priorities, and strengthened my attention to detail. Working in a fast‑paced team environment has helped me become more proactive, adaptable and comfortable taking initiative, while also deepening my understanding of how professional teams collaborate and operate on a day‑to‑day basis.

I received a strong level of support and guidance throughout my placement, particularly from the Early Careers team, who were consistently approachable, encouraging and helpful. At the same time, a good level of independence was expected within my role, which allowed me to take ownership of my responsibilities and manage my workload confidently. This balance of support and autonomy helped me develop professionally while still knowing that guidance was always available when needed.

The company culture was very positive and welcoming, with a friendly and collaborative atmosphere across teams. Everyone was approachable and willing to offer support, which made it easy to ask questions and learn along the way. Interns are treated as valued members of the team.

I enjoyed my placement overall, even though I found it very challenging at times. The role pushed me outside my comfort zone and required me to adapt quickly, manage responsibility and work at a fast pace, which could feel difficult on occasion. However, those challenges were also the most valuable part of the experience, as they helped me learn a lot about myself and develop both personally and professionally. Despite any difficulties, I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity and feel it was a highly rewarding and worthwhile experience.
